Where are you Min Lin?

Min Lin:
You were my friend in the Ilsan orphanage in 1969. I am looking for you to let you know that I have not forgotten you and would like to know how your life has been. I do not have much information about you, except your afather was in the Air Force in MN. I will followup with Holt today to send the necessary information they require to locate you. Here is what I found today is needed to locate you:

“Holt does have a process in place when looking for a fellow adoptee, however it is very limited due to US confidentiality regulations. The basic steps are:

1. You will need to send Holt a letter, with your original signature, requesting us to search for Min Lin, and expressly allowing us to release your contact information to another adoptee. A separate, short letter to the adoptee is also a good idea, explaining who you are and why you want contact.

2. We then contact Holt Korea to see if they can identify the adoptee based on the information you provided. If you can email a scan of the photo, it could be a big help.

3. If Holt Korea can provide us with the name of the adoptive parents, we will attempt to contact them to pass along your request to the adoptee. We’re only allowed to do a preliminary search for the family, such as through the white pages, and won’t be able to release their information to you. If we don’t receive any response to our inquiries, we aren’t allowed to pursue it any further.

4. If Holt Korea is not able to identify the adoptee and family, there isn’t anything else we can do. At that point, we usually suggest adoptees try some of the on-line search and reunion services, being very cautious as not all of these registries are totally legitimate.”
